A complete experience that combines the baroque charm of Catania with the natural power of Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe.
The day begins with pick-up directly at your accommodation between 8:30 and 9:00.
We will reach the historic center of Catania, a UNESCO World Heritage city, famous for its extraordinary baroque and the use of black lava stone that characterizes its architecture.
We will walk among the city's iconic places:
- the majestic Cathedral of Saint Agatha
- the evocative Piazza del Duomo
- the famous “Liotru”, symbol of Catania
- the characteristic fish market, authentic and lively heart of local tradition
After the visit, we will move towards the southern side of Etna.
During the ascent, the landscape will progressively change before your eyes, until reaching a unique environment made of lava, craters, and breathtaking views.
Here you will experience an immersive nature experience:
- walk among extinct craters
- observation of lava formations
- explanation of volcanic phenomena by our naturalistic guide
We will continue with the exploration of an evocative lava cave, equipped with helmet and flashlight.
During the day, it will be possible to take an optional lunch break at shelters or chalets at altitude.
Tour Itinerary
- 08:30 – 09:00 – Pick-up at hotel, B&B, apartment, port, or agreed meeting point
- Guided tour of the historic center of Catania among baroque monuments, historic squares, and characteristic glimpses of the city
- Walk inside the famous fish market, the authentic heart of Catanese tradition
- Transfer to the southern slope of Etna
- Exploration of a fascinating lava flow cave with helmets and torches provided by the organization
- Soft trekking among ancient lateral craters and volcanic landscapes at about 2,000 meters altitude
- Time to admire breathtaking views and learn about the geological history of the volcano
- Return and drop-off at the accommodation
